Meulaboh,
Indonesia: Women can’t wear tight dresses in Indonesian Province Aceh
after Authorities issued regulation. Ramli Mansur, head of West Aceh
district has started campaign to implement this new rule. Initially
Police is providing free loose trousers to women who caught wearing
jeans or tight dresses. Ramli told that this is two month campaign to
enforce this regulation.
Headscarves are common not only among Muslim women but also in young
girls. Many women use motorbike for travelling and therefore they wear
jeans.
The rule is not for Non-Muslims but authorities are expecting respect
from their side. Interestingly, this rule has been implemented only in
West Aceh province.
Its
merit to mention here that there are no specific punishments on
violation of this rule but local leaders will impose “moral sanctions”.
This province had also punishment on pedophiles and homosexuality. On
other hand, western media has rejected this rule and termed it as attack
on seculars and democracy.
